What we collect, and why

Short, because there is not much to it. We are a plumbing, heating and electrical company; we collect what we need to turn up at the right house and do the job.

When you fill in a form

The contact, schedule and service-request forms ask for your name, a phone number or email, the address where the work is, and what is going on. That goes straight into our office system as a job enquiry, where the people who answer the phone can see it. We use it to call you back, price the work and send a technician. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or add you to a mailing list because you asked about a leak.

If you give us a mobile number, we may text you about your own job — a confirmation, a heads-up that the technician is on the way, an invoice. Reply STOP to any of those and the texts stop.

When you apply for a job

The application form on our careers page asks for your name, a phone number or email, your town, your trade and experience, and anything you choose to tell us, plus a résumé if you attach one. It goes into our office system, separate from customer enquiries, where only the people who do the hiring can see it; the email that tells us one has come in says only which position it is for. We use it to consider you for work with us and to get in touch about it, and for nothing else: it is not shared outside the company, not sold, and not used to market to you. If our system can’t take it at that moment, the form tells you so, and a copy goes to a private error log so we can still call you back.

We also note the page you applied from, how you found the site (the same first-visit details analytics records), and a scrambled form of your internet address that lets us spot the same connection sending dozens of applications but not identify you. We never ask your age, your date of birth, your Social Security number, your street address, about criminal records, about past pay or about immigration status on the form. A résumé can contain things like that; you decide what goes in it, and we do not weigh anything we should not.

Hiring records have to be kept for a while after a decision is made, so we keep applications for that long and may hold on to yours in case a role like it opens. If you want yours deleted, or want to see what we hold, ask — by phone or through the contact form. We will delete it unless we are required to keep it, and say so if we are.

When you call

Outside office hours, and sometimes during them, calls to (215) 788-0803 are answered by a receptionist service on our behalf. They take your name, number and the reason for the call and pass it to us; they do not keep it for anything else.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read and whether they end up calling or filling in a form. It sets cookies to tell one visitor from the next. It does not know who you are unless you tell us in a form, and we do not join the two up. If your browser is set to block analytics cookies, the site works exactly the same.

Keeping and removing it

Job records are kept because plumbing, heating and electrical work carries warranties and, sometimes, permits, and we need to know what was done at a house and when. If you want the details we hold about you removed, or want to see them, ask — by phone, or through the contact form. We will do it unless a record of completed work has to be kept, and we will say so if it does.
